Project: To create additional living space, useable all year round, in an old building located near Avignon within a protected historical buildings zone.
Solution: Covering an open terrace using a contemporary metal construction with a roof of minimum slope. This stands in juxtaposition to the old stone building delineating old and new while respecting and reflecting the integrity of the old.
Result: The interior was a refined space, full of light. The straight lines, including a large window front, allowed ambient light to reflect of the bamboo parquet and the polished red Roussillon concrete. This gave a warm ambiance to the space. All year comfort was assured due to the floor heating, double insulation and exterior awnings. Additional living space was achieved whilst still retaining the feeling of outdoor living.
